Under Floor Heating
Under floor heating uses 70% radiant heat, and 30% convection. Instead
of heating the air that surrounds objects in a building, the system heats
the objects, including people, just as the sun heats objects on the earth’s
surface.

Advantages of under floor heating
-
Eliminates
uncomfortable hot or cold air flows around a room
- The floor area, not the ceiling area, is the warmest part of the
room
- Extremely energy efficient. The even distribution of heat allows
air temperature to be reduced by 1 – 2°C. This can yield energy savings
of between 15% and 50%.
- Clean and hygienic, this system is ideal for people with asthma or
other breathing difficulties.
- With no radiators or other wall mounted equipment required it leaves
you free to design your room and utilise space unfettered.
- Link up units can be added to existing systems to heat bathrooms,
kitchens, garages, conservatories and house or office extensions. It
is also popular for building renovations involving conversions of barns,
stables, churches, schools, warehouses and offices for domestic use.
- Healthy, environmentally friendly, vandal proof and carrying a 50
year guarantee, under floor heating has much to offer the designer and
building occupant.
The system has been developed over a 30 year period in Holland and is
widely adopted due to its economy and healthy features.
Invisible Heating Systems (IHS) manufacture the systems in Ullapool,
Scotland. They will provide heat calculations, design and full CAD drawings
for each project, tailored to meet the specific requirements of the client.
Under floor heating is ideal for most applications:
- Houses
- Flats
- Offices
- Hotels
- Restaurants

Cooling Systems
Just as warm water running through the floor provides radiant heat,
cold water can provide radiant cooling. On a hot day, the system can be
modified to use cold water from an appropriate source. The effect is that
of walking into an old stone building and immediately feeling cool and
comfortable.
